Gaza, Palestine and ANZSOC. 22 August 2025
The Committee of Management of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology (ANZSOC) has affirmed its endorsement of the Statement on the war in Gaza and genocide of the Palestinian people as follows:
As the professional body representing criminologists across Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia, ANZSOC recognises the profound criminological significance of the issues raised in this Statement, including genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, apartheid, settler colonialism, corporate crime, and state violence. These are urgent matters for our discipline, touching on the core concerns of criminological research, teaching, and public engagement.
By endorsing this Statement, ANZSOC’s Committee of Management adds its voice to the call for an immediate, permanent ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian access, and accountability for international crimes. We also stand in solidarity with academics, students, and communities who speak out against injustice and support the rights of the Palestinian people.
